Michael Smith

Mapping and Forest Technician

Michael has called the East Coast home for many years where he enjoys hiking along the iconic red cliffs on Prince Edward Island. Michael discovered his interest in mapping and data analysis while completing his master's research mapping airborne contaminants in lichens growing on trees around a historic mine site. He then conducted geospatial work for species-at-risk and old-growth forests in Atlantic Canada and not too long after, headed to northern Alberta, where he supported wildlife research and conservation. He is excited to explore more datasets and use his mapping skills to support national conservation campaigns.
